Money

In a bid to save money, the girls headed to Tekka. But my travelling expenses have shot up and I thought I should just stay in the vicinity. Gwen and I met up for lunch, less the company of Jonathan, Regina and Samantha. And surprise, I found a place at Park Mall which serves relatively cheap food.

I had chicken laksa for only $3.50. I see the pictures like so tantalizing and they even have the 'chicken' bowl, an indication that they serve really good noodles. But there is a saying, "Look good, not nice to eat." It did apply in this instance. KNS.

Over lunch, Gwen asked why are S1ng@p0re@n guys generally unromantic. Actually we are okay. It's really easy to be a romantic. Who doesn't know chartering a plane and proposing to a girl up in the sky is romantic? But it takes MONEY to say, "Darling, don't even bother to bring your suitcase. I heard they sell clothes in Paris."

S1ng@p0re@n guys want to be romantic, but are not willing to splurge or do not have the means to. Then came the question why girls have no qualms in wanting a $15k rock which serves no purpose other than aesthetic, and yet want to control their partners' money. Does L.O.V.E. really equate to money these days? The more I spend on you, the more I love you?

A simple reason could be rocks are symbols of status to women. Likewise, career, houses, and cars are symbols of status to men. Difference is the things men want... is of much higher functionality than what a rock can do.

Then we touch on the expectation of life. People want to have better quality of life. Not true, she says. Perhaps because of the social circle she is in, apparently, her friends don't mind not being that rich.

But of course lah, once you live in Bayshore, you can always say, "Oh, I don't mind downgrading"." But words are cheap. Scarli their definition of downgrading is to move into The Waterina.

I concluded that the expectation of life is dependant of the following factors:

1. The present situation he is in now. The social class he is in now.

A person from the low class may just wish to keep his stomach fill everyday. Or strives to move to the middle class.

A person from the middle class may be contended with where he is. Or trys to be someone from the upper class group. He will never want to be downgraded.

A person from the upper class group may aim to get richer, or is contended where he is. Or he doesn't mind being downgraded. To the middle class.

2. The outlook of life.

3. His personality and drive for money.

4. His values in life.

5. The tendency of worrying how people would perceive him.

Money makes the world go round. It also makes the world madder.

Elizabeth called Gerrie on matters pertaining to a particular savings account. Seems like it's the frenzy these days to know which a/c offers better rates. Roz even asked me to compile a list of every a/cs across all b@nks.

As if I got the time. Do liao, also no money in the b@nk. Heh.

I wonder how many people would wear red tomorrow. It's suppose to be part of a test to see how responsive our staff are. Well well... finally, it's going to be Friday.

Night.
