She

Here, I refer her as Gerrie.

With KB, I refer her as Ger.

With HQ, I refer her as Gel.

Between her and me, she's my everything.

My past. My present. My future.

I had the top left one. Bitter coating. Dark chocolate oozed out. Lovely.

We Need A Hero

America gave the world Superman.

Singap0re had VR Man. But he has since married, turned banker and recently had a child. Where got time to save the helpless?

Introducing... a brand new superhero.

Super Girl!

One who brands her bra 'Super Girl'. She can squash you with her fats and smash your head with her Gucci bag.

Oh well.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Had the most pathetic evening. Had dinner alone at the food court, watching America's Funniest Video. Wandered around the happen-less 'shopping center', ate chips in the park and slept at the staircase.

Gosh.

Ssh. Don't tell anyone k. Later people think I'm not happening anymore.

Dad

It's way past bedtime, but I really want to shout out loud, "Dad, I'm so proud of you tonight!"

Dad with Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Minister for Education and Second Minister for Finance.

Congratulations for being conferred the PBM title. The night belonged to you, Dad. The entire community was cheering for you.

One of my aunts thought the Pr3sid3nt would be coming down tonight.

Not tonight.

Dad's going to meet him next week.

Profiling

Today, Boss shared with me the results of the Profiling test I took last month. The reoprt was generated using SHLsolutions and it broke down into 3 main areas: Relationships with people, Thinking style and Emotions.

It turned out I'm persuasive, participative, analytical, flexible, structured, detail-conscious, conscientious, results orientated and energetic.

I'm average on the areas of self-control, empathic, sociable, innovative, resilience and competitive.

And I failed in the area of modesty.

But at least the test showed I'm consistent throughout the test.

Anyway, here's a clip where someone takes a photo of himself everyday. Even better than the one the Asian girl did.

Shop

It's been some time I have updated the fashion scene. I bet some of you guys miss it. There are always people who keep asking me where do I buy my stuff and they end up buying and wearing the same thing. Fucking make me dulan.

I dunno if you noticed, but Turf Club seemed have lost alot of horses. Apparently, a special breed of horses escaped from Turf Club and entered....

THE WILD!

No. 3 is coming strong! No. 3 looks like a wild animal on fire! No.3 overpowers No. 6! No. 3 is leading the pack!

YES! No. 3 has came in first!!!

This tee is bloody ugly can! Scared people cannot see it's RL ah?

From small little pony, eat more grass, drink more water, breathe more haze, become big liao ah?

Actually, it can look nice. On one condition. If you're big and muscular.

You would look like one small fuckin' prick if you are not muscular. If you're already pigeon chested, still let the horse cover it for what? And you might as well take the No. 3 and wrap your skinny arms.

With positive notes from Kenneth, saying our discussion guide is good and Frank saying, "I agree with Kenneth that this is a good discussion guide, one of the best among all the seven groups in your class", the four of us were excited about the focus group held today. I went to Gerrie's place in the morning.

She looked really beautiful today. I was like, "Hello Nurse!" Anyway, waited an hour for her to get ready. Just in time for Kenny and his girlfriend to reach Gerrie's apartment gate. Parking at SMU was horrible. The campus layout is quite dumb actually, but the building itself is impressive. Although today's a PH, there are so many students mugging in the campus. But seriously, how to concentrate? I prolly sit myself at TCC and look at the girls. The study room looked really nice though. But on the outside, it looked like some time capsules. Or rather rooms in some mental hospitals.

The members of the group had our discussion at the foyer while we waited for the participants to come. Adrian brought along 3 pretty ladies, Kenny with his 2 guys, David with his girlfriend and a guy, and of course, there's my stunning Gerrie. JJ was the last one to reach.

The subject of the discussion was so boring, well, at least to me. But it went well. All's good now.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm happy Gerrie and mom are getting along fine. This evening, the family went shopping. And the ladies shared similar taste. Hehe, but of course la! My mom cultivated fashion taste to me, and I influenced Gerrie.

At the end of the day, family's blessings are the most imortant.

I love you, Gerrie. Thank you for being in my life.

Enjoy.

Ang Moh Speak Singlish

I was at Selegie buying lunch for Jasmine at this Turkish kehab store. This Chinese was sitting at the counter and when he finished his meal, he gave two thumbs up to the Turkish owner and said, "This is good! I'm from Europe and had eaten kehab in Europe."

The Turk shrugged, "Well, I wouldn't be surprised. There are more than 10 million Turks in Europe."

When the man left, the Turk said to me, "I don't understand why that guy told me he's from Europe. Why can't he say, 'I'm proud to be Chinese!'?"

Come 7 hours later, I would be meeting my group for project discussion. I would be holding a focus group on Tuesday. If you would like to join this focus group, kindly let me know.

Date: 24OCT2006
Time:12pm
Venue: SMU
Topic: National Pride
Lunch would be provided

Miracles

We all need miracles.

I had a couple today.

1. Work was super relax. I had adequate time to finish my powerpoint slides.

2. Larry liked the presentation Jeslynn and me gave. From it, we had answered the tutorial question that we were supposed to submit this Sunday.

3. I managed to walk from Jurong East MRT station to my home. Took me close to an hour. Not because I thought the haze wasn't bad enough, but 'cus of a freak accident.

Now, I need another miracle. I wish the next moment I open my eyes... it's Saturday. Nah, I would just be glad if I could look fresh the entire day.

Yes I'm Back!

Prior departure, preparation was tedious but fun. Wednesday was my off day and had went to Parkway Parade's Giant to get the stuff needed for the trip with Gerrie. But it seemed her mom and maid were even more excited than us, helping us prepare sauces and vegetables.

On the day of departure, I went to her house to do some last minute packing. We dropped by her parents' store before heading to TMFT. There was nothing there, except for the tiny DFS store where we got a bottle of red and cans of beer. The mood was cheery and we chatted while the ferry brought us to Bintan.

From the terminal, we took the hotel's coach to the main lobby where we did the check-in. Minutes later, a buggy brought us to the villa. It is two-storey high, surrounded by the forest. Amidst us were other empty villas with lake view. We locked the entire place up and drew the curtains. We didn't really went through the inventory list but went straight to the showers. It was fun cooking with Gerrie and after telly, we headed to bed.

We went to the beach for awhile on the second day. Amazing view and the skies were so clear. We almost forgotten the haze issue till we watched the telly. Yes, we got to watch 5ing@p0re channels. By nightfall, the family came to join us.

Gerrie's birthday on Saturday kicked off with a jacuzzi at the pool, overlooking the sea. It was a little hazy, worsening her throat inflamation and fever condition. After our shower, the family celebrated her birthday. Aunt got her a mango cake, which had generous fillings of mango, strawberries and apples. Almost too cute. Of course, we finished it with the wine. There wasn't enough time to go to Oleh Oleh, so we shopped at the hotel lobby instead.

There was a tinge of sadness on Sunday for the both of us. It seemed that the holiday was too short. But it gave me the experience to know what living with her means. Importantly, the family got to know her better.

Monday started off slow. We went to watch World Trade Center and ended the day with a steamboat buffet. Reality hits us already before we go back to work tomorrow. We fear the emails. Sigh.

Photos are posted here.

To Gerrie, Happy Birthday

Blackathy, 5:57 PM

Updates

Dinner @ Chef Chan's turned out well. Food was good and the entire dinner was kept at a minimum fuss, which ended quite early.

Work was usual, but I found myself entrapped by fabrication of lies, prevaricating false impression upon myself and a colleague. Office politics at its very best. Still, I like what I'm doing.

Gerrie went for her haircut last evening, which turned out to be gorgeous. At a fraction of the price she paid early this year. Dinner was at Hog's Breath. Excellent experience. Chijmes, once again, proved to be a lovely place to be in. But I would like to think we can do without the haze.

Coffee at TCC was wonderful.

But know what? It feels good to be in Gerrie's house early in the morning, knowing I'm going for a short trip over the weekends, and wouldn't be back in office till Tuesday.

What bliss!

Had a 3 hour sleep last night. Feeling so tired. *yawnz*

Work hard people. Get back to work. I'm going grocery shopping.

We're Gonna Have A Wedding!

Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives, and do not be harsh with them.

Colossians 3:18-19

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It's not as if I wasn't deprived of my sleep but I had a strong urge to wake up at 6-ish to go to church. It seemed like an ordinary Sunday, except that the skies were cleared and that there weren't much cars fighting for spaces with me in the mscp.

I walked into the premises at about 0755h and wasn't surprised there were only a handful of people at the foyer. I passed by the bulletin and saw this.

As the title suggested, it's the Church's policy where members have to go through before couples go through the marriage ritual.

Looking at the flowchart closely, there are 5 main steps prior making the special vow.

1. Courting? Consider the Discovery Weekend for courting couples.

2. Couples, having made the decision "Yes, I want him/her to be my partner" would have to attend the course. This session allows couples to come together to share with each other and learn to understand one another better. It would also allow the couples to review where their relationship is heading. This course is held in Jan/ Jun.

3. Considering marriage? Couples would have to apply for the Marriage Preparation Counselling course 18 months before the wedding date. This is held in Feb, May and Aug.

4. In the MPC course, couple come together with a councillor to evaluate how ready they are to get married. It also allows the couple to think through if they are able to commit to one another. This course would last for 4 months, compared to 1 day for the Discovery Weekend.

5. After attending the MPC course, this would roughly leave the couple 14 months to prepare the wedding, as well as to confirm the faith they have for each other. Of course, at this stage the wedding date would be set.

Service was good today. As the Praise and Worship segment started, people entered the sanctuary in streams and well within 5 minutes, it was completely filled.

And guess what? Today's sermon is on...

Yes. God's blueprint for marriage.

It's scary to read how people end up in divorce just like that. It seemed divorce is defined as the future tense of marriage. But with God's grace, a couple would come together and be seen as one.

Congratulations to Gerrie's cousin, Andrew and Siew Ling. May God's hands mould your relationship and your honeymoon would last a lifetime.

Am going to a dinner tonight.

PSI reads 150

Gracias to those who asked about my dad and myself. Having palpitations and throat pain.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We all know the presence of the tension between our country and our neighbour. The recent issue pertains to the marginalization of the Ch1ne5e in M@l@y5i@.

Then again, put the p0litical issues aside, the two of us have many things in common. For example, Genting is foggy.

S1ng@p0re is also foggy.

Except that it's polluted here.

The PSI reading went up. Finally. The people at NE@ must have been sleeping for the past few days. It has been terrible a few days ago. Visibility is low. Drive safely. Open your eyes when you walk. You'll never know who you might see.

Slow Down

Hou Yi: Knock knock.

Chang Er: Who's there?

Hou Yi: Hou

Chang Er: Hou who?

Hou Yi: Hou your breath! The haze has killed the damn rabbit.

Fine. That's such a feeble attempt to bring some Mooncake Festival cheer. Really tired from work and school. But the constant messaging from the girls in the office did make Friday seemed a little less boring. And I learnt something today. Maureen and Mandy actually smile. Heh.

Wth. I didn't even know today is the Mooncake Festival until HQ msned me last night to see the moon. I'll be glad if I don't die from the haze out there. I wouldn't be surprised there are people out there bbq-ing mooncakes or rabbits, contributing to the bad weather.

Life on the fast lane.

When was the last time you stopped by a CD shop and listen to some records?

When was the last time you actually went out on a real date?

When was the last time you kissed?

When was the last time you had the entire day to laze in bed?

When was the last time you stopped worrying about bills and buy something you like?

When was the last time you trim your eyebrows?

And when was the last time you went shopping alone?

Is there an appropriate time to slow down?

Thursday

Fourth day of the week. 2nd working day for me, and I'm already bushed. Everyone received the treat of the month today. This time, we're celebrating Deepavali, Halloween and Moon Cake Festival and the Boss decided to give bank wide a special treat.

Everyone got really excited and were frantically opening the box. It turned out to be 4 small chocolates that represented the 3 occassions. I thought the treat this month would be 6 hours off, since they gave us 2 hours off in August.

I welcomed the augmentation of the caculation of OT. I decided to forgo extra pay and took hours off instead. So come next week, I would only be working two days and the rest would be allocated for the Bintan trip.

Class was a bore. I amazed myself by staying put throughout. But I needed that 20mins break the lecturer gave us. Else I couldn't find any time to go for a hair cut. Gracias to David who accompanied me in the salon.

Seems everyone is out tonight. Gerrie is out with her mates. KB is out, obviously with a girl. He's so cute. He called me and said this in a deep and serious voice, "Bro, I need help."

I was like, "Yeah, with?"

"What flowers, other than lilies and sunflowers, come in one shade of colour?"

I told him chrysanthemum.

And five minutes later, he texted me. Lavender.

Now, we all know.

Bumped into Robin this evening. An old secondary school friend. Everyone seemed to be doing well. I don't know what the hell am I doing actually. Sigh.

Run along now. I'm going for my shower. Catch up with you friends soon.

Liking Me

dinesh says:
yo felix

dinesh says:
who is that fuker who say thing s bout u

dinesh says:
spend your parents money

dinesh says:
how come they write untrue stuff

I received Dinesh's msn when I got home this evening. Haven't gotten a chance to reply him.

Anonymous, anon... whatever they call themselves, I have a fair bit of comments from this special breed of faceless creatures myself. But I thought he/she/they always complain about the same thing. If you don't like my looks, go for comestic surgery. I can guide you in buying clothes, choosing the right shade of colours, blah blah blah but I can't help you look better than me. Just because you're ugly.

If you don't like what I wrote, go start a blog yourself and preach to other anonymous-es. Name it "The Training Ground for Stupid People", I don't care.

If you don't like how I spend my money, go run along and beg daddy to give you some.

These people don't annoy me, though I would like to think they're psychotics who are anal about life being unfair to them. "Oh, why am I so ugly? Why am I so stupid? Why do I have to hide behind a computer and try spoil someone's day? Why am I so boring?"

Actually, not yet true. I remembered there was this person who nicked himself as 'xilef' who told me to look into the mirror and reflect upon it. It amused me and I thought it was quite creative.

But this time, a simple post by anonymous got some of you talking about it. About education and spending parents' money. Everyone views things differently, especially when it comes to money. So, I wouldn't want to expound on it. What I want to say is thank you to some of you who jumped into my defence.

Any-o-how, The Phantom of the Opera is coming back!!!! In March 2007. Tickets are available NOW from 4 October to 12 November 2006. If you like me so much, buy me a ticket!!!

Tuesday

The T0t@l Perf0rm@nce M@n@gement course was a yawn, although the sweet Angela tried to liven up the crowd. The contents of the course, however, was of great importance to every individuals as it helps to gauge and evaluate our performance @ work, which ultimately determines the bonuses and promotion.

Over the past 2 days, I have seen a bigger overview of the diversity of operations in the b@nk and through conversations and small talks with people from the other deparments made me realised the vast options that lies in front of us. A position in the Treasury would be fun, but I do not major in Finance. I would be absolutely proud to be in the Marketing but I doubt the standard of my English, be it oral or written. I have seen the importance of the mastery of the language.

'Nuff of work-related talk. I'm going back to office in another couple of hours.

Over the two-hour lunch break, I brought Samantha to Golden Shoe and lo and behold, I had my curry chicken mee. I had craving for it for yonks and it was pure luxury as I had a bowl. A cup of Awfully Chocolate would complete my day but I decided against it. Instead, I got Gerrie a present.

Get this k, 'cus it's really interesting.

I would be spending next weekend with Gerrie and my family @ Bintan to celebrate her birthday. I have bought her a present two months ago and have yet to give it to her. And today, guess what, I gave her a Christmas present!

-.-"

YES I KNOW!!!!

And wait, the story's not complete yet!

My birthday is yet to come but today, she got me The Bag! How perculiar can it get!

Well well...

Both of us are big spenders, I realised. But I'm completely satisfied with what I have now and would focus on the most important event of our lives. I shall have to wait for the year-end sale to get my Timberland shoes and perhaps to tailor 2 more pants to save costs.

Shucks. I came back to find my iPod down.

Bugger.

The highlight of the day: meeting Gerrie at 4-ish and having coffee at 5 while everyone is slogging at work.

Induction

I reached the carpark a little tad too early and decided to nap in Blackathy for half an hour before taking the bus to Raffles Place. I was nervous when I entered the building. After all, I was dressed simply in a polo tee whereas everyone was suited up.

But you see... today's not an ordinary day for the 40 odd of us. We were engaged in this induction program where newbies from all departments gathered together to make new friends. We had the usual ice-breaking session before the CEO came to talk to us. His speech was inspirational and made us feel proud of the institution.

Thereafter, we set forth for our small-scale Amazing Race. Which turned out to be utterly embarrassing for the most of us. We approached passer-bys to take photos of us with the branches, the B@nk's ATM machines, the Day & Night branches, and even AXS, SAM, Citi and ABN's machines.

Lunch was a little quiet though. We ate quickly and proceeded to Suntec branch. From there, we decided to hide ourselves in a comfy place to foster friendship.

An hour passed before we decided to head back. The haze was horrendous. Someone remarked it looks like Genting, jus that much hotter. I was thinkin' how worse it would be at Ground Zero. Anyway, because we were really early, we went to the Chill Out room, which was so much nicer than what we had at @trium.

@ 3, we went back to have our task evaluated and concurrently, helped ourselves to the tarts. It tasted soooo... good and I had 4 servings myself. 2 salmon, 1 strawberry and 1 tuna.

Our last assignment of the day was to design a collage on why we choose to work in this b@nk. We were asked to convince everyone why our collage was the best. So we went, "Our B@nk is a super b@nk. We are made up of many talented individuals. We come from different walks of life, different backgrounds, different races, different religion. We come together to work as a team. Because we know we are not superstars and we play down our ego. This makes us diverse and an truly international and w0rld class b@nk. We aim to be the leading financial institution and provide excellent services to our customers. At H58C, we are the w0rld's l0cal b@nk."

We may not have turned out to be the overall champions, but at the end of the day, we made some new friends.

So looking forward to tomorrow's course.

Blackathy, 10:26 PM

Work

I would be out of office for the next two days.

I'm going on a small-scale Amazing Race later. And on Tuesday, I would be at Raffles Place for a course.

Pride

Over the weekend, the class has been exploring what constitutes national pride. Not particularly a fun topic, but we have it as a project. It set me thinkin' why people, including Sings, would wear tee-shirts that declared "I heart NY!" Would there be a market if there's a similar tee that exclaim "I heart SG!", or that if it's designed by dkny, which I doubt so. Not like it would really help if we need a French, Italian or American label. How much do we really love our country and if so, how do we exhibit 'em?

I have been thinkin' why are the @meric@ns so patriotic. Look at what they have and are today. They have the top university, the best labs, technology, land, people, money, power and influence. Hell, they gave the world Disneyland!

I went to the pictures with Gerrie on Sat evening and I realised the media hyped up the patriotism as well. Amazing scenary, great food, beautiful people... heroes always saving the day. And the soldiers are held in esteem and the detectives in suits. Media shows off the power the @mericans have and this instill the respect.

And what do we have? We got VR Man. And most of our TV shows are copycats. Talk about reservist, we groan. And look at our cops. They prowled the streets in a gang, which seemed a waste of human resource. We used to suit up ourselves with our SBO, filled up with 2 water bottles and our rifle5 and walked in pairs!

But at the same time, let us not forget the safe streets we have. The abundance choice of food we have. The efficient transportation system, the resourceful logistics distribution system, the education system, the shopping malls... all these in a multi-cultural, democratic society which respect religion and race.

I, for one, would not mind wearing a "I love NY" tee, but would never wear a "I love SG". But that wouldn't mean I love this country less.

After all, this is home.
