The Phuket Trip (Part 3)

Nightfall.

We returned to our hotel room for less than a minute. It was just enough time to dump all the bags down and grab a bottle of beer from the fridge.

The streets became alive with the local pasar malam and everyone was enjoying the dinners, the drinks and the sights. Gerrie and I were bent on having seafood that day and walked to one which we had noticed the day before.

It displayed their fishes, prawns, vegetables...

and the lobsters.

Everything looked so good and we had a tough time deciding what we wanted. After some considerations, we chose some prawns and walked into the restaurant to place more orders.

The food took awhile to come and we were so famished!

We had stir-fried prawns with garlic, spicy chilli and tom yam seafood. The food was amazing but the beef was too spicy for Gerrie. And the tom yam seafood came in such big serving, with mushrooms, prawn and sotong thrown in.

And it cost us only 550baht (appx. S$24.40).

After dinner, despite the aching legs, we continued to venture beyond Bangla Road. It was off-roads for the vehicles and it turned into a stretch of roads filled with happening pubs.

There were couple of pubs with real girls dancing on bar tops and there's where we see the difference between us and the ah mohs.

The ah mohs would pay to watch them (or even touch them), but the rest of us would just stand outside to watch.

Then, of course, there were the trans, who gladly took pictures with whoever paid them. They were dressed in white dresses, with large feather hats and they paraded along the streets.

I could only snap a photo of them from afar, hoping that they wouldn't noticed.

As we continued to walk down the streets, there were men who were holding iguanas and Gerrie were terrified of them.

It was not long later we disappeared into another shopping center. This time, much smaller. It looked like an older John Little, but it carried more brands that wad JL had. It was a pity there wasn't any discount given for Nautica and Lacoste.

It was close to midnight when we decided to retire back to the hotel room. We did a little financial calculation. After all, we were poor kids with only 5,500baht in a foreign land and an over-abused credit card.

Gerrie had her Triumphs from Central and Oriental, her 3 pairs of heels, 2 bags, a Playboy top, earrings, facial product from Boots, and another top.

And she's gotten 2 tees for her maid.

As for me...

my little infamous wax.

And there's the wallet I've gotten for mom.

But I've also found a new friend...

my beer! Lol.

It was good enough for me to cuddle in bed with Gerrie and watch Soul Plane.

That's all for now, folks.

Night.
