The Phuket Trip (Part 5)... and more
We intended to wake up at 8am, an hour later than the day before. We walked into the hotel buffet area for breakfast and there we saw Ricky. We sat at the same table and talked about our little adventure in the exploration of Phuket.
We looked out of the windows and realised how sunny the day was! Gerrie and I hurried back to the room and got ready for our sun bath.
The pool wasn't crowded and Ricky was there already. The feeling of basking in the sun was terrific. But the weather got a little too hot for Gerrie, who decided to go for a dip in the pool.
At 10ish, Ricky decided to go back to his room and invited us for lunch. Gerrie and I stayed behind for awhile before we went back to our room and gym respectively.
At 12, we were ready to leave for lunch when Ricky called in saying he would be late. But it didn't take long for us to meet at the lobby. Ricky found one of his friends and dragged him to drive us to a restaurant for free.
The drive was long and the place was isolated from the tourist hotspots. Along the way, we listened to ghost stories relating to the after-math of the tsunami. By the time we got there, my bottle of beer was emptied.
The place wasn't any news-worthy but the sea was beautiful, with sanpans and kelongs in sight. The breeze was very much welcomed, especially in such a hot climate. We settled down quickly after placing our orders.
The food arrived promptly, but in that circumstance, was considered quite slow. Gerrie and I had the hotel waited for us to check out and we only had half an hour to eat. But upon the placement of food onto the table, the thought of the hotel staff fuming disappeared.
That was my first time trying Chang. Surprisingly, it's stronger and better than Heineken! It's that good! But imagine go Alley Bar and order, "Eh, can I have one Chang ah?"
Abit sia suay hor. Lol.
We reached the hotel half an hour late, but the hotel staff was friendly as ever. But we didn't take those smiles for granted and hurried to grab our bags from the room. Scarli charge us for that half an hour how?
We placed our bags in Ricky's room before I walked Gerrie to the massage palour center for her foot massage.
The streets may be emptied during the day but filled with trans at night
As for me, I went back to the swimming pool for my sun bath.
About an hour later, I met Gerrie at the center again and we went for more shopping!
Actually, I was the one who wanted to do the shopping. Abit disappointed mah. Went all the way to Phuket just for a can of wax meh?
I had wanted to find myself another chain but can't find leh.
We then walked into Carrefour to get my mom her Tom Yam soup base. We chanced upon more beers!
At 45baht (appx S$2), I thought the stall I have been buying my beers were a bargain again. But apparently, I was so wrong!
Every brand of beer in Carrefour went for 25baht! That is only S$1.10 per bottle!!! And it cost only S$0.80 for a can of beer!
Holly smoke! I would be a drunkard if i am stay in Thailand for a month!
I wanted to buy some bottles back home, but I noticed the damn sign. What kind of regulations are these! I was super duper sian. Sigh.
The walking about resulted in aching legs and we just have to hide from the abusive sun. Too hot! We went back to Ricky's room and had our showers. And just right before we left, I had another big bottle of...
beer, of couse.
Came 5:30, Ricky walked us to the hotel lobby and then to one of the stalls for the local's fave dish - the chicken leg...
before we said our goodbyes.
Pity we didn't left in style. Lol. Just us in a Lancer cab.
This trip did us real good, away from the stress of work and school, away from the hustle and bustle of city living and of course, bringing us closer.
The Th@i experience was really good, though 3 days were too short a time to discover this place. And the people, as well as their culture.
The trip was planned at the last minute and despite the fear of Phuket being flooded, it turned out to be wonderful and was worth every baht penny spent.
If only we had the time to discover the Patong beach. If only we could say hello to the fishes. If only we had the time to visit Phi Phi and James Bond islands...
It's amazing how a pair of shoes can bring you to great distances. But only love can overcome the hurdles in life.
In any case, I didn't arrive home just with a can of wax. I managed to get myself a bottle of YSL from the airport.
And some drinks for my dad.
After the trip, Gerrie and I managed to meet up yesterday.
She had went to do her hair the other day before and I thought it was really nice. She accompanied me to Raoul for 2 hours! (I was there for 2.5h. Lol.)
The selection this year wasn't that good and the prices for certain items had went up.
But we managed to get ourselves and my dad a shirt each. Problem is, I got the same shirt as I got last year. -.-
And there you go... one of the bags Gerrie bought during the trip.
We returned back to reality on Monday. Work had been really stressed these days, with more complaint cases.
Sigh. So glad it's Friday tomorrow!
